1. SOMEONE, SOMETHING
Married at 16, no baby on the way, wanted someone to stay.
Alone with a baby at the age of 25, wanted someone to hold tight.

It’s a slippery slope baby, it’s a long road back there, and it feels like I’ve been here.

Nearly 40, a new one in your arms, wanted someone to keep close
You went this way and I went that way, what we had is still the same.

Years string along and lovers move on, nothing changes at the core.
So things stay the same and you carry the blame, but you do it once more.

2. TARGET MARKET
I don’t want to be a target market, I don’t want to be a profile
I don’t want to be 30-40 female, I don’t want to be a wallet
Study my behavior, watch where I go, watch whatever I do
Put it on a chart, talk about it like art, let it guide your every move.

What I want to do with every last dime, I’m going to move up north and leave no trace, I’m going to buy a piece of land and some saving grace.

Stick it in your briefcase, take it to the boardroom, tell them that you know me well. Show them all the things I’m going to buy and what you have to sell.
Meanwhile I’ll be packing my bags, cashing in my take, hitch-hiking up north with pockets full of money risking all to escape.

3. PERPETUAL MOTION
Walking along this lonely old road, it’s been a long time but the feeling’s not faded. With every step my thoughts get clearer. Clouds have lifted, warmth has come.

Moving now a little bit faster, feelings of longing and love.
Trying trying trying to get closer to you.

Night on the beach the moon is full. Skip two stones on the cool calm water. Rings of water out to the horizon form a ripple that flows to your shore.

Moving from the dark into the light, thoughts of you fill my night. Now it’s wheels on the ground, going nowhere just spinning around, perpetual motion hides the emotion.

Time goes by, life moves forward. Friends and faces fill the empty spaces. All these feelings won’t go away; dreams so strong they just don’t die.

Moving now a little bit faster, feelings of longing and love.
Trying trying trying to get closer to you.

4. DWELL
Why don’t you jump and fall until the ground meets your feet,
then why don’t you run, wind in your lungs until you reach me?

Is there and angel in my blindspot or just around the corner?
The sun’s coming up and there’s an open road, yet we may never meet again.

Dwell on the days when we were all here. Dwell on the way it feels with you gone.
Is there an angel in my blindspot or just around the corner?
The sun’s coming up and there’s an open road, yet we may never meet again.

6. 4:59
4:59, a no man’s time, not daybreak, but not quite night

On the fringe is where you live your life. Hustle bustle people get in line. Some see no contradictions, some don’t care. But it’s not alright, it’s not just fine.

You remind me of 4:59, not quite day, and not quite night,
not quite dark, and not quite light.

All the wrong in the world has always made you think.
You can’t just let it go, you hover on the brink.
You would lose your heart if you joined the mix,
how would that make sense, what would that fix

You remind me of 4:59…

7. BLUE 2 BONE
The sky has changed from blue to bone, it’s the flight of the feelings we had. What to do anymore is on instinct alone, we don’t know what to do anymore.

Get your bearings in this new cloudy place, when it feels right a new one takes its place.

A climatic change, a didactic play from the heaven’s above or fate,
To teach this thing over and over again: behold this very day.

You fight and deny til you lay down, let it wash over you like the rain. The pull of the moon, the clench of your teeth, as real as the shift again.

Get your bearings in this new cloudy place, when it feels right a new one takes its place.

8. FRANTIC FIELDS
Frantic fields of want and hope burn a path for you to choose.
Morning’s dark til springtime comes, in my hand’s all I got to lose.

Fill the glass I’m drinking from, I just can’t forget that face.
Next time when the sun comes up I am going to sleep all day.

It’s a long row in the sun, it’s a night that cold and long, it’s freedom alone.

9. RIPTIDE
I’m like a rip tide, I take you where I’m going, the wind takes me and I’m made of the sea.
I’m moving, water warm and sure, no hard sides, no reason to cry.
You won’t last long, you won’t last long if you fight me.

I’m like a rip tide, I take you where I’m going, the wind takes me and I’m made of the sea.
I’m moving, water warm and sure, no hard sides, no reason to cry.
You’ll do best if you acquiesce alongside me. You’ll do best if you acquiesce alongside me,
I’m like a rip tide.

10. BAD NEWS
Bad news, bad news, bad news, you are bad news.
A headline on a hot day, a bill I can’t pay, a shot through the center, a mirror just shattered.
Bad news, bad news, bad news, you are bad news.

Looked so innocent at first, the lizard brain quenched its thirst.

Bad news, bad news, bad news, you are bad news.
One drink too many, flights of our fancy. One drink too many, flights of our fancy.
Bad news, bad news, bad news, you are bad news.

When my angel flew away my devil found a place to play.

11. OPEN
Bring us an open road, we like the vista from there
Tell us the stories you know, we like to see through your eyes
Stumbling in from the woods, feeling our way in the dark
We like the comfort of home, running to your open arms

Days go by and the nights disappear and my clothes don’t fit
But you’re here, you’re here.
Days go by and the nights disappear and my skin looks old
But you’re here, you’re here.

Days go by and the nights disappear and some friends are gone
But you’re here, you’re here
Days go by and the nights disappear and our future is short
But you’re here, you’re here
